中國衛星發射測控系統部2月2日下午3點51分，成功於酒泉衛星發射中心用長征二號丁運載火箭，將電磁監測試驗衛星「張?一號」發射升空，進入預定軌道。這也代表，中國大陸成為世界上少數擁有在軌運行高精度地球物理場探測衛星的國家之一。
根據《新華社》報導，張?一號是全新研製的國家民用航天科研試驗衛星，是陸「地球物理場探測衛星計劃」首發衛星。衛星、運載火箭分別由中國航天科技集團五院航天東方紅衛星有限公司、上海航天技術研究院研製；發射和測控任務由中國衛星發射測控系統部負責；應用系統由中國地震局建設和運行。

國防科工局系統工程司副司長趙堅表示，張?一號覆蓋範圍廣，電磁環境好，動態信息強、無地域限制，將開展全球空間電磁場、電離層等離子體、高能粒子沉降等物理現象的監測，為地震機理研究、空間環境監測和地球系統科學研究提供新的技術手段。
航天東方紅衛星有限公司周峰總監表示，張?一號具有多載荷集成、高精度定標等特點，載有高精度磁強計、等離子體分析儀、高能粒子探測器等8種有效載荷。此外，衛星所載的義大利高能粒子探測器，將與中方研製的高能粒子探測器互為補充聯合探測。
電磁監測試驗衛星工程首席科學家申旭輝說，張?一號總體技術指標達到國際先進水平，部分技術指標達到國際領先水平。創造了多項國內第一，「包含第一次實現低地球軌道衛星高精度電磁潔淨度控制，彌補了天基科學探測領域發展的短板；第一次實現在軌精確磁場探測，衛星裝載高精度磁強計、感應式磁力儀載荷，有望獲取寶貴的全球地磁場數據。」
另外，此次任務搭載發射了「少年星一號」等六顆國內外微小衛星。少年星一號微小衛星源於10多萬中小學生的創意和夢想，是中國大陸首顆教育共享衛星。所有建有衛星測控分站的中小學校和教育機構，均可使用「少年星一號」數據開展航天科普教育。
